Original artwork by Jotam Schoeman. Bedoelende Studio, Cape Town.
Page three. A baboon in an apple tree in Cecilia Forest — unhurried, unbothered. The city exists elsewhere.
Below left: the view from the mountain looking down over what was once shoreline, now the dense grid of the CBD. Below right: a quiet Victorian house in Gardens, just east of the Company's Garden. Pretty, particular, easy to walk past.
Three moments from the same peninsula, held together on one page. The baboon doesn't know about the city. The city doesn't know about the baboon. The Saunterer shows us both.
Pencil on paper, enlarged to A1 and finished with subtle digital colour. At this scale the pencil marks themselves become part of what you're looking at.
Limited edition of 8 prints. Signed by Jotam Schoeman. Certificate of authenticity included. Printed on True Rag giclée by Wet Ink, Cape Town.
